These pictures were taken at a historic military base in New Bedford called Fort Taber. This place is open to the public and most people go here for the attractions. It is on the water with a road around the entire base where many people go for runs, walks or biking. Along the road there is old abandoned forts covered in graffiti. These pictures are mostly of the nature along the road. They consist mostly of flowers.
I selected this place to take pictures because I have many memories in this spot with my cousins. In many of our adventures here, would walk the the road, take in all the nature and explore the forts. This has brought meaning to me because it is a place where I have been most happy, surrounded by the people I care about the most. We have seen really cool art, watched the sunset here and overall just enjoyed the nature.
In these photos, I am trying to stress the concept of importance of nature. Most people when they go outside, do not notice little things about nature and miss it’s beauty. These pictures of flowers stood out to me because there was so many different kinds in one place. There was so much to notice and appreciate in the nature here. Nature is important for the earth and it shows in my photo with the bee, and then the photo with the butterfly. I am glad I was able to capture these moments.
The order and arrangement of these photos was set up in a way that I thought looked best. I started off with, in my opinion, was my strongest photo which was the picture of the blue flowers. I love this photo because of the texture of the flower and also the contrast between the blue and green. After that photo, was a picture of a plant growing out of the top of one of the forts. I like this picture because it shows the water and the road in the background, all while being focused on the plant in the front. My photos continue with qualities like these.
In the 5th photo of the heart graffiti, I took the picture from in front of one of the towers. The sunlight was coming from the right and the plants that hung over it casted a shadow. This picture was taken from an iphone so there was no technical aspects, but I did edit the photo. I adjusted the brightness levels up and also the exposure so it didn’t look too dark. Then I turned up the contrast a little so that the green of the plant stood out.
